Laser Hair Removal Questions & Answers
Laser Hair Removal
Blonde, Gray, White Hair ??
We have the solution
It's Proven ! It's FDA Approved
Lasers use naturally occurring melanin in the hair follicle as a target to selectively disable the follicle while leaving surrounding skin structure in tact.
However, lighter hair has too little melanin to provide an effective tardget for the laser, so people with blonde, gray or white hair have not been suitable candidates for laser hair removal.........until now.
Where can you get it?
Meladine can only be sold from Medical Grade Laser Clinics that meet the application requirements.
We are proud to be that Clinic in ALBERTA !
How does it work?
We use a sophisticated light energy source for permanent hair reduction. The light is absorbed by the pigment in your hair, which effectively disables the hair follicle.
What areas can be treated?
With our OmniMax system we can clear hair on everything from upper lips to full backs and legs, all the while being in half the time of traditional systems.
How is our treatment different from other clinics?
Our SharpLight technology is considered the gold standard in the laser industry because of its safety and effectiveness on all skin types – even on tanned skin, which is a nice benefit to our patients in the summer months. We can treat not only coarse hair but fine hair as well. It is permanent, safe and effective.
How many treatments will you need?
Hair develops in phases and we can only treat hair in its active, visible stage. Therefore, the number of treatments depends on how quickly the untreated hairs appear. For significant clearance, most patients require a course of 4 – 8 treatments, which are spaced at least 6 -8 weeks apart.
Is it totally permanent?
Yes. The hair we treat with OmniMax will not grow back, and patients can expect 85 % reduction in hair after 4 – 8 treatments. As we age our hair patterns change, so this does not prevent that possibility of new hair growth over the years.
How does it differ from electrolysis?
Electrolysis involves inserting a needle into individual hair follicles and delivering an electrical charge to them at one time. Therefore, it can be costly, painful and time-consuming to do any more than a small area. Our technology, on the other hand, delivers light energy to hundreds of follicles at a time, which makes it ideal for treating large as well as small areas.
How long does the treatment take?
It depends, of course, on the size of the area, but it typically takes 15 minutes to treat smaller areas for example the upper lip, and 45 mins for larger areas for example lower legs or a mens back.
What does it feel like?
Patients will feel a series of short snaps. No local anesthesia or pain medication is necessary. Our advanced engineering system both heats the hair follicle and cools the skin around it making the treatment tolerable.
Do I need to grow the hair out before my treatment?
No. In fact, we ask that you shave beforehand since the treatment is targeting the hair follicle itself – not just the hair.
Is it safe?
The beauty of our SharpLight technology is that it effectively destroys the hair itself without harming the surrounding skin. You may be a little red afterward, but that typically goes away in a matter of minutes to hours. As with all medical procedures there is a slight degree of risk, and we will discuss this with you thoroughly when you come in for your FREE consultation.
How much does it cost?
This depends totally on the size of the area and the number of treatments we estimate are needed to achieve clearance. If you would like to make an appointment for a consultation, we can give you a specific idea as to the number of treatments and the price then. We do offer various payment plans.
We offer packages of 8 treatments. Packages are great way to obtain quality treatment at an affordable price and a savings of 15%.
